Module 2 — Market structure & timing
Trading US markets from another timezone
5 minute read
In plain English
The market runs on US Eastern Time and observes US daylight-saving changes, which do not align with other countries'.
Why it matters
For part of the year your local open time shifts by an hour. Missing that is how people arrive late for a week.
Example
In London, the open is 2:30pm most of the year but 1:30pm for a couple of weeks in spring and autumn.
Try this
Check the AlphaRadar status bar, which shows Eastern and your local time side by side.
Common mistake
Hard-coding a mental open time.
What this does not mean
Your local time never changes what the market does — only when you see it.
